Mark Wolz practices and teaches astrology in New York City. He is certified by NCGR for both consulting and teaching and has served on the NCGR Board of Directors. Mark also teaches yoga and meditation and practices therapeutic yoga, RYT-500. Sandra-Leigh Serio: The Art of Secondary Progressions

Talk Description:

Planetary cycles, especially transits, are logical and mathematically predictable. Secondary progressions are unique, amazing and symbolic. As a forecasting technique they can hint at events that are forthcoming as a result of psychological changes in our consciousness. This lecture will explain the mathematics behind secondary progressions and the importance of secondary progressed aspects to the natal chart in predicting important events and experiences.

Speaker Bio:

Sandra–Leigh is certified by ISAR, AFA and OPA as a professional astrologer and has written for the Mountain Astrologer, Llewellyn Publications, Horoscope Magazine and StarIQ. She has a M.A. in Psychology, lives in Boulder, Colorado and since 2003 has been the President of the Rocky Mountain Astrologers. In the 80’s and 90’s she had her own TV and radio show. She serves as a Group Leader and Treasurer for OPA and a trainer for ISAR’s Consulting Skills. In her spare time she plays duplicate bridge.

Lee Lehman, Ph.D.: Job and Business Horaries

Lee offers a working session of horary examples: the method, and then its application. We will go through as many charts as we have time, to demonstrate the consistent use of method, and to illustrate the variations in questions asked, and in the ways of getting an answer and interpreting it.

Speaker Bio:

In her four decade development as an astrologer, practical application is one persistent hallmark which has defined Lee Lehman. Lee has a Ph.D. in Botany from Rutgers University. She is author of nine books on astrology, including The Book of Rulerships (1992), Classical Astrology for Modern Living (1996), The Martial Art of Horary Astrology (2002), Traditional Medical Astrology (2011), Classical Solar Returns (2012), The Magic of Electional Astrology (2014), and a translation from the French of Papus’ Astrology for Initiates. She is Vice President of the Board of OCA Corp., and teaches at IAA, the Midwest School of Astrology, Avalon School of Astrology, and Kepler College. Her annual master class series presents classical topics in an intensive learning format. Her correspondence courses, Classical Studies (horary, natal, electional, medical, gaming, mundane and advanced horary), bring classical astrology to the forefront as an astrological system.

According to conventional astrological wisdom, void-of-course Moon periods are unfortunate times to start new projects, meet new people, or make important decisions. When I noticed it didn’t always work out that way, I set out to discover why. In this lecture, we’ll take a look at the charts of some surprising and enduring events and connections that began during void-of-course Moon periods – and challenge our modern understanding of them.

April Elliott Kent is a professional astrologer and author living in San Diego, California. She is the author of three books, including Astrological Transits (Fair Winds Press, 2015) and The Essential Guide to Practical Astrology (Alpha/Penguin 2011). Her astrology writing has also appeared in The Mountain Astrologer and Dell Horoscope magazines and in Llewellyn’s Sun Sign, Moon Sign, and Sabbats annuals. Wade Caves: Timing in Horary Astrology

Horary textbooks cover a lot of ground, but few really draw out the mechanics involved in assessing cycles to create a solid timeline of events. What techniques are consistently recorded? Are they all equally reliable? Is there a more straightforward approach that can be taken? This presentation analyzes modern and historical horary charts to demonstrate an organic approach to timing that underlines the ongoing cycles speaking to us in horary consultation.

Wade Caves is an astrological consultant, educator and international speaker specializing in horary, electional and classical astrological technique. Wade received his certification as a horary practitioner from Deborah Houlding’s School of Traditional Astrology (STA), and now serves as a faculty member and tutor for the STA in North America. Ryhan Butler: Directions of Life

Talk Description:

Medieval astrology is replete with techniques to measure an individual’s vitality,  resilience to illness, and the approximate length of their life.  One such technique involves identifying candidates from positions in the birth chart that take up special roles. In this lecture we’ll explore the hilaj and kadukuhdhah and determine how to identify them in a chart.  We will also apply Primary Directions to indicate times when individuals may experience critical health periods.

Ryhan Butler has studied classical astrological techniques with an emphasis on medieval astrology for just short of a decade.  He has lectured locally and as a part of national conferences, working to spread the techniques of medieval astrology to those who would otherwise not encounter them or may not immediately see their value.  Ryhan is author of the Medieval Astrology Guide website, which serves as a resource for medieval astrology and he is also a co-host on the On Questions podcast.

Popular astrology blogger Patrick Watson will present the idea of planetary cycle affinity, an expansion and consolidation of disparate transit concepts such as phasis, the recurrence transit and the phase angle return. Patrick will demonstrate how natal angularity, aspects and phases establish life-long cycles and developments of particular themes in a life through numerous examples.

Patrick Watson began studying astrology at 15, mentored by Nick Dagan Best and Chris Brennan who introduced him to Hellenistic astrology. At 21, they started blogging for The Political Astrology Blog. In April 2012, they issued an accurate prediction regarding the 2012 elections, which was featured by ABC and Fox News. Patrick graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2011 with a BA in Music. Nicola Smuts-Allsop: Sex, Pregnancy, and Other Urban Myths

Young, fertile couples have only a 15% chance of falling pregnant each month, even when they have sex every day. It is really harder than you think to get pregnant – Nicola explores the multiple contributing factors in the astrological chart that prevent couples from conceiving. Nicola will demonstrate the signatures that provide challenges for infertile couples and how to use astrology in consultation to improve their chances. Techniques range from staunchly medieval to basic common sense. NFSW – Unsurprisingly, Nicola will use the words sperm and eggs a lot.

Speaker Bio:

Nicola Smuts is a consulting astrologer, living in the UK. She has a diploma from Rod Suskin School of Astrology in South Africa, and a medieval diploma from Astrologos in the UK. This year Nicola is enrolled at University of Christchurch in Canterbury for a Master’s degree in Sacred Myth and Cosmology. Nicola lectures internationally on her fertility work, and her research and methods in this field are pioneering and unique. Her success in diagnosing fertility issues in charts and finding potentially fertile times to try IVf and other reproductive treatments has been featured in mainstream press (Daily Mail UK, London Times UK, Sunday Times UK) magazines such as Marie Claire (SA), OVA (UK) Fertility Road (UK) and her work has been featured on national television in South Africa. Many couples are extremely grateful to her for the valuable, time-saving advice and recommendations she is able to provide, to maximise the potential for conception. November 2015 marks the Minor Standstill of the Moon as the North Node reaches 0 Libra. Well known to ancients and included in alignments at sacred sites worldwide, the very visual yet little known Standstill Cycle of the Moon reaches an important turning point, similar in functioning to the solar solstices, but far less frequent. Explore this fascinating 18.6 year cycle, its role in history, what it means and what comes next in 2024.
